Historical and personal views on literati style
- Historically, the literati style originated when bonsai people tried to copy the literati landscape paintings of the Southern Sung Dynasty in China. These paintings were cataloged in a book called "The Mustard Seed Garden". This book was often quoted in both Chinese and Japanese bonsai Literature. In John Naka's Book 1, page 247, these paintings were referred to as "nanga" or southern painting. KEYWORDS: Bunjin, Literati, Bonsai, Ernie Kuo -
