Description
The Turtles return to New York with one goal in mind: to destroy the Shredder once and for all. With April providing remote computer assistance from the lair, the Turtles begin their assault on the Foot HQ skyscraper, fighting their way to the top floor by floor. But first they must overcome an army of Foot Ninja Guards and the deadly cloaking Foot Tech Ninja. But no one is quite prepared for what they encounter inside a Foot Genetics lab?The Turtles and Splinter continue to fight their way up through the Foot Headquarters skyscraper, facing down three misshapen Mutant Shredder Clones, a hallway of traps, and never-before-seen supernatural foes known as the Mystic Ninja. Finally, they reach their goal: the top floor and Shredder's throne room. But first they must confront Shredder's deadly Foot Elite Ninja. But things really get out of hand when Stockman, in a souped-up exo-suit, crashes the party? literally. With Stockman showing up in the middle of the final battle between our heroes and the Shredder, everything is thrown into chaos ? so much so that our heroes must temporarily join forces with the Shredder and Hun to defeat Stockman before he annihilates them all. But, once Stockman is finished off, the final fight continues. Facing this ultimate challenge high atop the Shredder?s skyscraper, can our turtles emerge victorious?! Regardless, it promises to be a fight to the finish ? or so it seems.

5 out of 5 stars Now its time for the Shredder to get his!   April 17, 2006
The turtles launch an attack on Foot headquarters in New York, after having rested at Casey's Grandmother's farm for a few episodes. They plan to stop their enemy once and for all, but it won't be easy. For Shredder's fortress is well guarded. The green teens must face numerous Foot ninjas, mutant Shredder clones, new and more powerful oponents known as the Foot Mystics, and last of all, Shredder himself seemingly one final time. But that's not all, because Baxter joins in on the fun in his new exosuit in hopes of defeating the turtles and the Shredder. And what role do the mysterious Guardians and their superiors play in all this? Its a three-parter you got to see if you haven't already.

5 out of 5 stars Comics on Screen They Way They Were Meant To Be Seen   April 12, 2006

Every event and encounter of the first season come to a head in this epic confrontation.

'Return to New York', named for the 3-issue story from the original run of Mirage Black and White Turtles comics, features the ninja reptiles taking the fight to Shredder, invading his New York skyrise and kicking shell one floor at a time! With the Foot, Baxter, and the mysterious Guardians all having a stake in the bout, this is a battle you can't afford to miss!

This is the definitive story from Year 1! (Its source material influenced the finale of the live action film.)

The first episode on the Disc, 'Monster Hunter' isn't as good as a lead-in as one would expect, but it's a nice calm before the storm.
The extra feature interview with co-creator Peter Laird rounds out the disc nicely, though.

Hands down, the duel between Leonardo and Shredder is the best fight of the series. This is the reason I still watch a cartoon called 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.'

5 out of 5 stars The Turtles Kick Some Shell   April 16, 2004

In vol. 7 of the new Ninja Turtles series, the Turtles regroup before returning to New York to confront their arch-nemesis the Shredder. The first episode on this disc, "The Monster Hunter", is kind of a dud, even if it does feature some very nice character moments between Raphael and Leonardo as Leonardo struggles to forge new kitana swords.

However, the other three episodes that make up the "Return to New York" arc are some of the best episodes of the series so far. Lots of action and shocking moments, including clones, mystic warriors, and a revitalized Baxter Stockman in a huge robo-suit. Add the shocking confrontation between Leonardo and the Shredder, and you'll know why the new TMNT is one of the best animated shows currently on TV.

The disc holds four episodes, a step up from Funi's usual meager three. The extras are non-existant, but the quality of these episodes makes this a disc worth picking up for all TMNT fans. Highly recommended.
