Product Description
The table is set for murder . . .

ANOTHER'S CURSE Takis & Judy Iakovou
Could things get any worse for the Oracle Cafe owners, Nick and Julia Lambros, when rats appear in the Dumpster and moonshine turns up in the lettuce crates? Unfortunately, yes -- when the health inspector who shuts them down is found dead!

RED OR GREEN? Steven F. Havill
When Bill Gastner, newly retired sheriff of Posadas County, New Mexico, finds his oldest friend dead of an apparent heart attack, he takes it with a grain of salt. George died after eating the famous Burrito Grande from the Don Juan de Onate restaurant, and it takes the well-seasoned Gastner to find out who done it.

CAKE JOB Jane Rubino
Reporter Cat Austen is covering a lush bridal expo in Atlantic City and helping her future sister-in-law pick out a wedding cake. Cat soon finds herself in the middle of a mafia shakedown involving pastry chef Patty Cake, a hired killer and the discovery that the way to a hit man's heart is through his stomach . . .

SHEEP IN WOLF'S CLOTHING Peter Abresch
Jim Dandy and Dodee Swisher head for North Carolina's scenic shores for a weekend Elderhostel on culinary magic. They stumble across the body of a local priest and follow a trail of murder most fishy -- only to end up in dangerously deep waters . . .

4 out of 5 stars A Four Course Delight   June 14, 2004
What a wonderful way to drop in on some of your favorite sleuths, by putting them together in this tasty collection. Four short novels with a single theme - food! - featuring popular series characters who know their way around a kitchen. The #1 treat was "Cake Job", which only whets the appetite for Jane Rubino's next full-length book - but it satisfies the sweet tooth and tickles the funny bone when Cat and Co. get stuck between a hit man with a ravenous appetite and his target with a knack for cookery.

5 out of 5 stars Great Novellas   October 31, 2003
I injoyed all these 4 novellas about food and mystery---always a good combination. It was a kick to watch what kind of trouble Nick and Julia Lambros and their quirky friends get into. Cat Austen from Jane Rubino's Cake Job was another favorite in this collection. Good reads all around.

1 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money!   September 27, 2003

I'm a huge fan of the Iakovous, and eagerly buy their books in hardcover. But this sucker is going right back to Amazon. Although advertised as "4 novels in 1", it is actually 4 SHORT STORIES ... I don't consider 80 tiny pages a NOVEL. Hope the Iakovous find a better publisher (their series is truly wonderful) and don't waste your money on this. If I'd bought it as short stories I might feel differently, but I just feel cheated so am returning it. Yuck!
