Concise teutonic metal blast, a low four stars November 17, 2007 Having unleashed the best two albums of their long and often unsung career the timing was perfect for Running Wild to fire up a tasty live video. So they did. Obviously we get a number of tracks from the excellent Death or Glory - Riding the Storm opening proceedings to be back up by the one of the albums standout tracks in Bad to the Bone (a montage of footage from this concert was used to create a video for the track so as to promote it as a single - so if you saw the video back in the day you've already seen some of the footage from this release). Other simple and suitably numbskull metal attacks follow in the form of Raw Ride and Raging Fire while Tortuga Bay is more Teutonic than a panzer division.
Uaschitshun alters proceedings a bit and shows the band had an ear for melody even if they weren't known for it and the Bass Solo brings proceedings to a mellow level, allowing the viewer to relax before the final double shot of Conquistadores and Prisoner of Our Time. The last track, Final Gates, is actually just a play through of the song over the end credits in the same way as the Intro track is just a short backstage and crowd buildup piece.
Running Wild at this point had pretty much perfected their simple metallic attack and really give these tracks the ol' college try, levelling the place with sheer wattage and tight playing. Not the nine songs I would of picked - my personal feeling is that they have better numbers than Conquistadores and Prisoner of Our Time to finish the gig off with, but there is no arguing with the energy and sweat factor in the execution of the numbers that are here.
Fans of this band - similar mobs might be Accept or, really, any number of German metal bands - should really pick this up. If your already a fan of this genre of simple heads down metal with few pretensions apart from lots of leather and studs you won't be disappointed.
