WARNING April 29, 2008 Warning: Tracks 22 and 23 are of such poor recording quality that they are unplayable. However, you are still getting 21 great tracks of blues so it's not such a bad deal!
Testament Records-Always Good for You! August 16, 2007 You may want to disregard the atrocious spelling, lack of respect, and dismissive comment about Chess from another reviewer. This is great music. We all know that. JUST BUY IT. For more information, however, just ask Etta James or Buddy Guy what they think about Leonard and Marshall Chess. Sure, they weren't perfect, but picture the world without all of the artists they DID record.
Just Excellent November 2, 2002 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
I couldn't write a higher review for a cd . . . absolutely excellent. This cd offers a sampler of some of the most orignal and amazing blues around. With everthing from the drum and fife sound of napolean strickland to the astounding strength of fred mcdowell's slide guitar. . . there is nothing in blues as subversive and powerful this sampler. What chess offers to testement in terms of authenticity is what brittany spears offers to Lenard Cohen for song writing. CHECK OUT THIS CD!! I can't recomend it highly enough.
