I am a fan of MK but I have been disappointed with his creations of late. This CD somehow slipped by me & it has been a great surprise...a throwback to the Dire days!!

I believe this is Knopfler's best all around solo effort ... it's beautiful, tender, aggressive at times and just wonderful as a whole. He is such a genius and his guitar playing shines through pretty much every song along with his subtle understated vocals. Really excellent...way to go Mark!

This album blew my socks off when I first got it(many years ago) and I find that I'm no less impressed by it even today. Many great songs here---"Imelda", "Done With Bonaparte", "A Night In Summer Long Ago", "Vic and Ray", "Darling Pretty"--to name a few.A great release by one of the best songwriters and innovative guitar stylists of our generation.
