Perfect Stocking Stuffer December 4, 2008 A perfect stocking stuffer! Just label this one "Open Me First" and save everyone time and aggravation with the remainder of the gift boxes! A great tool and reasonably priced.
A Wonderful Gadget, But with Shipping, Ridiculously Overpriced November 4, 2008 The OpenX Dual Blade Universal Package Opener is a "must have" for any household. It is especially useful in opening the clear, bubble plastic containers that package consumer products. I find it so handy that I bought two of them in case I misplace either one...!
However, the price of the item, especially when coupled with a seemingly usurious shipping charge, seems unreasonably high given the package opener's mostly plastic construction, small size, and light shipping weight.
Finally, the perfect package opener... May 31, 2008 This little wonder is used all the time. Last Christmas I bought about 10 of these for stocking stuffers. I kept two for myself to use at home and work. I use them to open up cardboard boxes, packages in the mail, the foil on the top of pill boxes and peanut butter, and to cut through all kinds of tape. But what this really excels at is opening those horrible plastic blister packs. You just make a small slit in the plastic packaging with the pop out razor blade, then stick the plastic point into the slit and run the OpenX around the edge of the packaging. There is no need to worry about cutting your fingers while trying to open plastic packaging. I will always have one of these around. Nothing better to have during Christmas and birthday present time.
My only complaint is that it comes in the same plastic packaging it was created to open.
Not for left-handers! April 24, 2008 This is useless to me. The blade that is used to puncture the package must be held in the extended position while using it. It is designed to be held with the thumb of the RIGHT hand. It is extremely awkward if not impossible to use it with the left hand, and I don't want to try cutting anything with my right (I am extremely left-handed).
Buy a Swiss Army Knife. I can get packages open much quicker with one of those!
Nah... April 9, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I don't know why America uses this annoying plastic wrapping to wrap their products... everywhere else in the world uses much simple and easier way to do that.
Anyway. I always thought it would be nice to have a tool to open those very interesting plastic wrapping. But this opener didn't work as well as I thought it would. The top blade is definitely not sharp enough, or there is a problem in their design. I've never successfully cut open any plastic wrap with the top blade. The plastic wrapping tends to get stuck at the very end (inner end). It also seems like you will need to have strong arm to push the opener and I don't have strong arm.
For the bottom blade, it's VERY SHARP and the design is very bad. It's basically a tiny cutter. As you can imagine, using a very sharp cutter cutting hard plastic in the air is a very dangerous thing to do. It's kind of scary.
In a nutshell, not recommended.
