Product Description Angst, sex, love, rock. Trace, Candace, Francesca...Samantha. Losing control--and finding the truth within.
Nina is an adult and free on her own terms, but what do you do after you break free? Freedom to...what? She doesn't feel too much, doesn't trust anyone, and she certainly knows better than to look for love. That? She saves for music, whether she's playing guitar or DJing...and everyone dances to her tune.
But when the dreams Nina works so hard for start to fall into place, the past she thinks she's left behind returns. As she opens herself--to everything--Nina learns that being punk alone is not enough. She needs to love and be loved, to let go--without losing herself.
Angst. Sex. Love. Rock. 'Nuff said.

I'm awe-struck and speechless over this book! December 16, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book far exceeded my expectations! That is not to say that I doubted the ability of JD Glass. On the contrary, I was so absorbed into "Punk Like Me" that I wasn't sure if this book would be able to stand up. Not only has JD Glass far exceeded my expectations with this novel, I now have such deep admiration of her literary ability, as I have read quite a many novels were authors attempt and fail to successfully weave many story lines together through different novels. JD has flawlessly picked the reader up and carried us, along with Nina and friends, through this story and into a place where we are genuinely happy for the characters that we have come to not only know, but characters we now feel a strong affinity for. I am now such a humongous fan of JD Glass and would recommend not only this book but this series to anybody looking for a well-written novel and characters you truly want to believe in.
amazing! May 7, 2007 i love this book! i really could not put it down. The characters are so real and anyone can relate to the main character's feelings. I know I did. That's what makes this book such a good read.
A Main Character Who Is Willing to `Tri' Almost Anything April 1, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful "Punk Like Me" from JD Glass, but wasn't sure if an adequate sequel would be possible. Being a little adventurous, I decided to take a chance on "Punk and Zen" and was blown away. In this well-written follow-up to Glass' first book, Nina makes an impressive return as an adult with very real problems and a very bright future - both in her professional life and in her love life.
Nina makes a living as a DJ and hopes to make a career as the lead singer of a rock band. Her DJ job attracts all kinds of women and she enjoys every one of them. That is, until she decides to clean up her act and look for true love. Of course, that decision is not entirely in her control. She finds herself seduced by a beautiful woman in her DJ booth and they share a summer fling. A few months later, the fling is gone and the high school girlfriend of Nina's first crush walks shows up. They have a fling. Then... Nina's lifelong crush suddenly appears and an incredible love quadrangle becomes apparent. This whole story is too complex and too exciting to disclose here.
Suffice it to say, this book is even better than its prequel. The characters are extremely dimensional and exceptionally exciting. It's hard to know who to root for as the entire story unravels and each character shows her true nature. I wish I knew people as colorful as these exciting women.
Way to go, JD. This one is a real winner.
Great March 21, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have read both Punk like Me and Punk and Zen and I think they are great! I love the coming of age feel of both books. I hope to learn more about Sam AKA Blade in a future book
